AN OVERVIEW OF SYM
SYM is dedicated to providing a highly professional service which supports students and schools. We aim to help schools provide a broad, rich curriculum especially in the areas of social, physical, emotional and spiritual health.
Our staff (who are all enhanced DBS checked) are committed to planning, delivering and evaluating a range of activities which are ‘tailor made’ to suit the individual needs of each school and indeed each group of students. We work in close partnership with school staff to ensure that what we deliver meets the school’s requirements and has a positive, measurable impact on the students.
The work of SYM is overseen by a management board comprising experienced teachers, headteachers, local clergy and business people, whose role is to ensure that the services delivered meet the highest possible professional standards.
Our services are free to schools as we are financially supported by 25 churches and over 200 donors, both charities and individuals. We are a Christian organisation and we will always present from that point of view but we do respect the views of those of all faiths and those of none.
JOB ADVERT - October 2018
SYM is planning to appoint a Development Officer to take responsibility for the implementation of a new strategy working towards chaplains in each secondary school in the city. This will involve working with schools, churches and supporters to create interest and raise funding. It would suit someone with proven entrepreneurial and administrative skills with the ability to relate to people.
The post is for two years, initially for the equivalent of one day per week but funding is being sought for an additional day. Working hours are flexible.
Closing date for applications 19 October.
